Three Things Make the Toronto Cardinal Program Unique in the TBA:
  1. The objective of The Toronto Cardinal Program is to offer the highest level of exposure to American colleges and universities (through tournaments and marketing).  No other MEL program in Toronto has this as their highest priority
  2. The program is a “cost recovery only”.  This is why the cost is a fraction of private “for profit” programs and among the least expensive in the MEL.
  3. The third objective is to offer the highest calibre training and baseball to all players, whether they have an interest in attending American schools or not.

More About the Program;
Neither head coach has children on either team .
Ryan Corey is the head coach for the midget team. Mark Ireland is the head coach for the minor midget team.

In order to have their release guaranteed players must live within the boundaries of The Toronto Baseball Association, York Simcoe, Central Ontario Baseball Association and the Greater Niagara Baseball Association.  If a player lives in the EOBA a release must be obtained from the player’s local association and the EOBA before being eligible to try out for the Toronto Cardinal program.

We are proud affiliates of the Toronto Baseball Association (TBA), Baseball Ontario, and the Midget Elite League.
We have established an off-season development program that is second to none.  The conditioning program begins the 1st of November and runs through to the end of April.
Baseball specific training begins in early January.

We conduct our off season development program at the high performance training facility, Variety Village.
Our baseball specific conditioning program is headed up by Jeff Gibbs (drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays, The Arizona Diamondbacks and also went to the University of Maine) and Phil Tsiaras (attended the State University of New York in Canton, NY for four years).
Our off season baseball instructional staff includes (but is not limited to) Ryan Corey (Herkimer College, Herkimer County, NY and coach of our midget team), Stephen Andreopoulos (Humber College Baseball), Chris Aubin (Ryerson University baseball), Ben Anderson (Erie College in Buffalo), Miles Verweel (University of British Columbia baseball).

Our in season baseball home is the centrally located; Stan Wadlow Park
In order to offer the maximum amount of post high school exposure to our 17 and 18 year old players, the U.S. tournaments are selected on basis of profile within the college and university community.
For those wishing to attend American schools, a video and mechanical profile will be produced that can be emailed to the coaches of the school teams the players wish to attend.

Given the age of the players (U.S. schools can’t approach 16 year olds), the focus for the minor midget team will be geared more toward development and playing higher calibre games than exposure to the U.S.  We will enter the team in only AAA minor midget tournaments and higher profile midget tournaments.
There will be one or two over-night tournaments outside of the GTA for the minor midgets but generally (with keeping costs down in mind) our games will be within the 416 and 905 area codes.
A budget will be presented to the parents prior to the off season program beginning and a final cost sheet will be provided once the season is complete illustrating where their money was spent.

The Toronto Cardinal high performance program is the only MEL program located between the Don Valley and the eastern border of Scarborough.

It is a high performance program without the high cost of a private “for profit” program.
