General East York Baseball House League Rules

The basic philosophy of the East York Baseball Association is to help every player develop their knowledge and skills in the game. While win-loss records and league standings are maintained (except in 6U and 7U), individual statistics such as batting averages and fielding stats are not tracked.

For 8U through 18U divisions, end-of-season round-robin play will determine which teams advance to the consolation games, semi-finals, and finals, all of which are played on Closing Day. All teams will participate on both Opening Day and Closing Day. Coaches and parents are expected to promote a positive, instructional approach with their own team and refrain from negative comments toward opposing teams.

The primary objective is for players to have fun while building on the fundamentals learned in previous years. The league is not intended to subject players to intense competition or undue pressure to perform. Instead, it focuses on developing baseball fundamentals while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play. Enjoyment of the game should remain the top priority at all times.

For 8U through 18U, games do not have a fixed number of innings. All games begin at 6:30 p.m., and no new inning may start after 8:15 p.m., with an 8:30 p.m. hard curfew. In August, start times shift to 6:15 p.m. due to reduced daylight. If grace time is given after 6:30pm (6:15pm in August), then the start time should be noted and no new inning may begin after 1 hour and 45 minutes of play, with a 2-hour hard curfew.

Tied games are permitted, except during round-robin playoffs, semi-finals, and finals. In the event a game is called due to rain or lightning, a minimum of three (3) completed innings is required for the game to be considered official.

Please refer to individual division rules, as additional local rules have been implemented to ensure player safety and an enjoyable experience for all.
